Good news and bad................

Postby paul w » 08 Jan 2009 18:18

1st,the good -
The Grinnall is finally road worthy and tested after a load of welding.
It's insured and will be taxed tommorrow,so hopefully Saturday will
be a day of cleaning, polishing and maybe a test drive or two,i'll post
more on the 1st drive impressions this weekend.
Image
Now for the bad....i am now unemployed! The boss phoned me last night,
said there is not enough work, and as i was the last in,i am the 1st out!
Fair enough, only been there 4 months, but i've phoned all the usual
suspects for HGV1 work today with not a positive result from any one.
It's early days yet,i am being hopeful of something turning up soon.
Looks like the Grinnall will get alot of attention in the next few days!!

See ya. Paul

Sorry to hear about your job, do you have any supermarket distribution centres near you? They're the only people making profits at the moment, & usually have at least some casual work.
Good Luck!

That's bad news Paul. I hope it's not too hard to find something
else, that pays OK, quickly. Hope you are not a "man of leisure" for
too long.

It's getting bad in the mining, & heavy industry here. I don't know
anyone, but job losses are on the TV daily.

At least you can have a bit of fun, & distraction, with the
Grinnall.

Bad luck. One door closes & another will open - soon I hope.

Have you thought about Grinnall minicabs?

glad to here the car has been resurrected Paul!!

I'm also sad to hear about the job, I can imagine how you must be feeling......
(last year the company I was employed with for allmost 20 years closed up shop. 2008 had become quite the adjustment year for us, it took some time but finally i found something "right" soon thereafter......)
Maybe you should apply for a job at Robsport [;)][;)][;)]

Paul, good luck in finding a job very soon, spare time is nice, means you can complete the cars but work is necessary to fill in the gaps.

Thanx for all your kind words, guys.January is allways a 'quite'month
workwise for a 'distribution operative',but i will be on the phone and
the pc all day pestering firms for a job.I'm a 'trucker'with 24 years
of all kinds of haulage experience behind me - and a clean license,so
maybe i'll get lucky soon.
It'd be great spending more time on the wedges, but you know the ol'saying-
"if you got the money, you aint got the time, but if you dont have the
money, you got all the time in the world"!
Some times life's a 8itch,but i am being positive - the Grinnall needs
a lot of tlc,and i'm the man with the time and patience to do this.
Then the auto needs some pampering(been neglected because of the'monster'
at the NEC)and it needs a bit of welding and poss a gearbox rebuild.
So,i have plenty to keep me busy, just gotta'stay away from'Bobsport'!

See ya. Paul

Why is it I know you're going to get something very quickly Paul? Something about your get up and go personality perhaps?

Hi Paul,

Thats really bad news about your job, just when you thought you had got back on track again.
Never mind use the time to its best advantage and I'm sure you will up and running again soon!
From what I looked at in the Grinnall, you wont be bored.

Best of luck

Ian
