Postby tr8 » 05 Jan 2009 12:32

the daft thing is whoever spent all that cash on doing the outside they left the inside virtually the same as the standard 7, its clever but not my cup o tea.

Let me pour myself a shot of Pepto Bismol. Yikes - sadly, you can recognize the TR-7 from the windshield and doors.

Imagine, a replica of a Zimmer or Excalibur. How perfectly awful.

ok...I'll buck the trend and admit that when compared to the Ferrari knock-offs, I for some strange and absurd reason don't really mind the conversion ...........
(on another note however, I could live without the crushed velour and button tuffed interior mind you)

I think you are looking at this from the wrong angle - probably the back which is hideous. BUT, if you look at the as a replica & not as a wedge it isn't a bad example of this style of car which, although fairly tasteless, does look like it has been well constructed - except the back, which no-one can deny, is hideous.

The front fenders, grill & bonnet (hood) seem to have good proportions & I actually like what they have done with the swage, turning it into a triangle creating a bit of a Mustangesque effect. Most people are stymied by the swage but that works. Imagine that on a normal wedge only the vertical would be behind the door closer to the wheel arch. I could live with that on my car. Let me just do an artists impression here...

The fake ragtop is a lowpoint. They are common on that style of car but that doesn't make it acceptable. If everyone dribbled it would still be disgusting.

So forget it is a Wedge & just think what kind of car would Triumph build if Hugh Hefner was on the phone looking for a gift for one of his girlfriends - probably the occasionally moody one that sometimes went a week before shaving her legs & had a small problem with foot odour - I think this would be it.

And on that bombshell people, its goodnight!

Must have been a hell of a lot of work involved, especially at the front end. I'd have thought they'd be better off starting with something a litle closer to the shape they wanted...

Ignoring all that, I'd have to agree that it's a lousy thing to do to a 7!
