Me neither. That Jaguar is well out of order. I grew up with the Avengers and the New Avengers.

That number plate NWK60P belongs on a wide arched 2 door MkII XJ coupe that Steed drove around in the first New Avengers series. An XJ5.3C I believe. In the boxed set, the plate has been stuck on an XJR that wasn't made for another 20 years or more.

Both nice cars but from different decades, but you can't muck about with our automotive memories.

My Wedge heritage began with a televised Rallycross event on the BBC's Grandstand. The red, white and blue TR7V8 and it's throbbing noise made a lasting impression on me, even though it broke down through the watersplash....I couldn't afford a Lancia Stratos or a Ford Escort RS2000 in the mid-eighties, but I could afford a 6 year old TR7 DHC to run as an everyday car. There was always the feeling that one day I would put that V8 under the bonnet and relive the memory.

Sorry to be picky...

But it would be a Series 2 XJ - the MK2 was a different model altogether.

That aside, you are right - what a sham!

Shaun.

Hi,

I meant series 2 XJ coupe but it came out as MK II XJ coupe before I typed out XJ5.3C which covers it all I think as they never made the 2 door XJ in series 1 or 3. My Dad had a succession of Jaguars including BRG S types and 420G's during the late 60's and early 70's so I've lots of early memories of walnut and leather upholstered motor travel. We never had an XJ though....
