The addiction continues!

Postby windy one » 21 Dec 2008 01:20

Just picked me up another 1980 TR7 DHC today. 9 hours of driving later(some, thru snow), its parked in my yard!

Red TR7. Non A/C car. Mostly original, bought from its second owner. Kept in a garage most of its life, so very little if any, rust. Has a bad head and low compression in two cyl., but also came witha rebuilt engine! !!!$500.00!!!!!!! Guy had to get it out of where it was stored. Havent had the chance to give it a good look-over, but from what Ive seen just needs a good cleaning/polishing(well, and an engine installed.LOL).

This makes the second '7' in a lil over a month. Seeing as how the white one I bought does have more rust than Id like to tackle, it will be a donor for this latest Red one.

Cant wait to 'dig-in', make nessary repairs and get her in driving condition again. Going to make it a daily driver & keep it a four cylinder-car, but with some upgrades to the engine. Once I get them both in my shop, Ill snap off some pic's. [:)]

Owning two TR7's doesn't really count as an addiction yet.
The moment you have plans to buy a third one it's time to start worrying [:D]

WindyOne,

I have convince myself having fixed for winter months but to date still not on the road and a soft top for the summer months at least this one is on the road.

The only problem is a did owns three at the same time or should I say four one was getting sold to allow another one in. Not sure I will be ever completely cured?

Hope one day to have them both on the road.

I have a confession. . . . . . . . . . . .

I'm collecting another tomorrow too [;)]

Our lass did say that I couldn't bring another home, and it had to go somewhere else - let's hope she was just having a laugh [:0]

Someone in our club came up with a clinical term for this desease...TAS...Triumph Acusition Syndrom. Glad to see it has infected the "Wedge" crowd. Great cars at bargain basement prices, what more could be asked for?
Congratulations to Windy and you others that have scored new finds. I don't even look anymore since I'm out of storage space and have plenty to do with what I have. Funny thing is that when people find out you are into the LBCs, they tend to let you know of every car they hear of for sale. I try to ignore and keep focused. [;)]

This is like my 8th or ninth wedge! LOL I actually gotta go thru my old pic's, very well may be more like my tenth one ive owned.

Not to mention the incredible amount of parts Ive aquired over the years!!! I literally have 6 transmissions, 3 sets of doors, 3 TR8 style hoods, 3 or 4 four-cyl. heads, a set of TR7 Victory ed. wheels...etc etc! Actually gonna list stuff for sale soon, to raise $$ for this latest 7.

Maybe we could start an addiction group for the multiple car illness/obsession.

I have 3 TR8s, a TR7 race car and TR7 parts car, plus 3 TR7 engines 2 extra V8s and enough parts to almost make another.

It could be worse, I used to own 7 MGBs (at the same time) 6 of them were black Limited Edition models...

The advantage, as I see it, of being a TR7/8 fan is that you can enjoy your car hobby for MUCH less than other makes. For $5000, you could possibly have several running cars in decent shape. There's not many other makes that allows you to do this AND have a large 'support group' like this one. Plus, you get the great looks that the wedge offers. Other enthusiasts type cars (Camaro, Mustang, any Mopars, etc.) would set you back a lot more money to have the same number of cars and/or 'inventory' as wedges do. I know, I've been down that road.

A win-win situation in my book.

Well I've managed a bed in the house. . .

Wouldn't mind living in the garage, but not keen on sleeping in there [:D]
