Hi guys, just thought as im waiting to replace my old Radiator, and as ive done most of the work on my 7 on my own, just was gonna ask a daft question even though i have referred to the manual, is it difficult to change the fan belt?, never ever changed one and whilst the rad was off i thought id kill to birds with one stone.

Many many thanks as always, id be lost without you allImage

Absolute piece of cake. Just loosen off the alternator bolt on the adjustable bracket, push the alternator towards the engine to loosen the belt, then pull it off the pulleys and replace.

Refitting is the reverse. Just make sure the tension is correct. It should only take you a few minutes to do.

easy peasy losen off the alternator bolt whip off the old belt, put on the new yank over the alternator with a bar or a long screwdriver and hey presto done oh yeh tighten the alternator bolt back up

There is probably a more technical description of the event but hey thats how i see it

My only caution is not to put too much tension on the belt.
It would be a shame to pooch your alternator bearings.
Just do it up tight enough that it doesn't slip.
