Colour for a DHC

Postby Beans » 10 Dec 2008 18:12

I hope I'll soon start with the restotation of my DHC's body, so I am looking for any ideas on the cars colour. Only "limiting" factor in the colour's choice are a pair of leather seats I already have in the attic ...

So any suggestions (or bright ideas) on what is the best colour for a DHC in combination with a black and (navy) blue interiour?

Black interior Theo? I'd suggest a crisp diamond white with black
hood,sills,spoilers,decals....but then i'm biased -

How about a nice mettalic-silver, with blue(to match piping)at the bottom of the car (where triumph always painted black)? If you can get a good pic, try photoshoping different color combo's to help decide.

With the blue piping on the seats and a navy blue interior a nice metalic or pearlescent blue would be good.

I have always admired Malcolm Paris' DHC, which I think is BMW Montreal

My favorite color..dark blue pearl. Ordered my Dodge truck that color. Hard to keep clean but sharp when it is. Thought about doing the TR8 that color but had to remind myself I already had the engine bay painted Aqua. Wasn't about to start over.

I do have a colour sheme in mind, but not yet sure.
I have ruled out blue though, because 't Kreng is blue already ...

Seats were actually refurbished for 't Kreng some 12 years ago. But removed because they weren't supportive enough [:I]

Yah you don't want two blue cars. As suggested black is good with some coloured metal flake. My Integra has what I believe is called "midnight black" which is black with gold metalflake. You only see the metalflake in good sunlight as it is very fine. Maybe a silver or very fine blue metalflake.

What was your colour "idea"?

The TR8 project is finished in 1G3 Toyota/Subaru Grey. With all accents in Matt black, windows too, it should be well dressed. This too would work with blue/grey/black interior to match the great attic find. I'll be receiving my TR8 after another coat of clear and will start a blog perhaps to follow the progress. Best of luck with your choice. I do think it would be difficult to mess up as the shape of the car lends itself to many options.

I am thinking on an original BL colour (from the 70-80's) which goes well with the black accents on the TR7.
As I am still not a 100% sure I won't bother you with the details, but the picture's getting clearer in my mind every day ...

B.t.w the original idea was Platinum grey, being it's original colour ...
