Throwing it out to see what sticks!

Postby jclay (RIP 2018) » 07 Dec 2008 03:01

OK, I probably don't have any idea of what I am about to get myself into, but here goes!

We all go to Triumph shows, VTR Regionals, All British Car Days, etc and only a few TR7/8s ever show up, so . . . .

Why don't we have a Triumph TR7 USA Ralley some where in the mid eastern states this summer? I picked that area because if you look at Ally's Atlas, most of the TR7s in the US are located there.

Any interest?

P.S. Silver_7 won't let us have it at his house!

Have fun, drive fast & safe, be kewl,

SUMMER PARTY 2009—Dates Announced! Friday and Saturday, August 7th and 8th, 2009!
If we can have three-hundred cars, we can have a great old-time Summer Party with autocross and drag racing.

This is from the Roadster Factory Site. The Triumph Wedge Owners Association TWOA, formerly TR8CCA are planning this to be the get together for the club. I assume details will follow, but this was a great meet whenever I have gone. The one with about 80 TR8s one year (1998) and usaually lots of driving events including autocross, hill climb and drags, when I was there.

It is in Armagh Pennsylvania

Would we want to go to an all British Summer Party car day with as many TR7/8s as possible or have an all TR7/8 car day?

Or do we just forget the whole thing?

It is alsways easier to crash someone else's show than to arrange your own. Been there done that. Locally I had all TR7 and 8 owners go to a local show once..turned out nice and was easy.

I'm only an hour and a half from TRF so I hope the numbers are good enough to support the driving events. Summer Party has been sort of hit & miss for several years and that doesn't help the attendance. Shame they can't commit to the drags & autocross up front cause I'm sure that would help with attendance. Sort of a catch 22 I suppose. Everyone has thier own cup of tea but just a show and picknic won't do it for me. Getting these cars together and seeing what they will do is my idea of fun.[:D]

BTW, there were 8 TR8s at our BCD this past summer. Actually more of them than TR7s. Who would have imagined? Years ago there were only 2 or 3.

Sounds like a great idea. But I would need a trailer full of spares to make it from Oregon. I don't think my wedge is quite up to it.

trf = The Roadster Factory.

For those in the NW every year usually in August, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon have a All Triumph meet alternating in the province and two states. In 2007 when it was in Steveston, BC we had cars from as far away as California (one Californian Stag by way of Pennsyvania. Talk about taking the long way 'round). This year (2009) it will be held in Redmond, Oregon.

Well, let's all shoot for the Summer Party 2009!

Maybe we could have more TR7/8 than the TR6 guys!

I like the sound of this, except I live about 2000 miles away.

I might fly in for something like this. It would be nice to actually meet some of these people I talk with online, and see some other 7s and 8s (not very many in Arizona).

I will beg for a ride from the airport later if I can make it.
