Wheel Adapter Thickness

Okay this is for an aquaintence that is looking to make a set. I guess his machinist is all ready to go but he doesn't know what thickness they should be. I would think that it would depend on what kind of offset your rims would have wouldn't it? But for a general idea what thinkness should the adapters be to be on the safe side? Can anyone who is running a set run out take off their rims and measure them for me!!![:D]

Are you talking about an adaptor to change the bolt pattern for the wheel studs? Or a spacer to move the rims outward due to an offset issue? Can you clarify?

Sorry about that, yes it will be to change the bolt pattern, I think he's going from our standard four bolt pattern to a 5 bolt and I think he's going to use 16 inch rims. Myself I'm going from our four bolt to the Honda/VW 4X100 with 15 inch rims but I'm no where near ready for making adapters yet[:D]

From what I have been told two things matter; the grade of the wheel studs & nuts and the tolerances of the holes for the adaptor. If you use high grade bolts & nouts and keep the tolerances of the center hole and stud holes as tight as possible its all a matter of bolt shear and thread strength.

I have purchased adaptors from two different places and they both came in 1" thick. You can't really much thinner than that, because you have fit lug nuts with-in this adaptor.
