if you have any electrician mates, ask them for foam seal strip that come with control panel gland plates. ( certainly true of the most common panel rittal.)

The stuff I used looks alot like the ebay stuff. It was called foam rubber weatherseal. It comes in different thicknesses and it is foamy on one side and tape on the other. You can get it at any hardware store (at least over here).

The stuff i bought guys is called a sponge rubber strip that is self adhesive on one side and is black in colour, the proof will be in the pudding as they say, when it arrives i'll let you know.

I have used both sponge rubber, & neoprene sponge rubber, self
adhesive strips on this & other applications on my 7s dash. It was
used mainly to seperate the various plastic components, to stop
rattles, & squeaks.
I have found the rubber strips very short lived, It squashes flat, &
becomes useless in a very short time. There may be better stuff
available, but I can't find it.
The neoprene strips are still doing their job after over 5 years of
service. For me, there is no comparison.
It is available from some specialists rubber suppliers, but I have
found it easiest to get from a local boat builder, or a boat builder
supply company, here in Oz.

I used "Soft Touch" Ultra Heavy Duty Felt with Adhesive 1/2" Wide Strip by Waxman #2200, obtained from a local home hardware store. This particular tape is typically used as a weather strip for home windows and doors.
I can't remember what plastic polish I used on the clear lens though.

I also used that same felt tape (adhesive is on 1 side only) to fill the gap between some of the dash board trim panels to keep them
from rattling and act a a light leak seal on those lamps above the
radio.[:p]

The foam strip i got for mine, was a little thicker than i needed but in the end it was really ideal, cos when i took my facia panel out to change it, i put the strip behind the panel then slid the panel over it insuring no gaps at all and a neat finish i was very pleased with my efforts, sometimes its the small things you do that can make all the difference.
