Just wondering if anyone can tell me what constitutes a 30th anniversary edition
TR7...other than the dash plaque...so far nobody has been able to tell me exactly what that title means...

Hey, Rob -
From Bill Piggott's book, Original Triumph TR8 :
30th Anniversary
"This was the first TR7 convertible special edition, built in 1979 at Canley for the USA market. Quite what 1979 was the 30th Anniversary of in Triumph terms defeats me, and the original brochure is careful merely to say, 'It's our birthday, and you get the presents!' The car retailed at the same price as the normal TR7 convertible, and with $900 worth of 'extras' free it did indeed represent something of a bargain, even if the 30th Anniversary was a fake.
"Externally distinguished by side pinstriping and wheels with polished aluminium trim rings and hub centres, the car also came with a stereo radio/cassette, front fog lamps, a chromed boot rack and a padded, black leather covered steering wheel, which the brochure proudly announced was 'Made in France'. Special coca floor matting was added, as was a dash plaque incorporating the Union Flag and confirming that the car was one of the (unknown number of) 30th Anniversary models."

I have a vague recollection it was something to do with the british
royalty, but I'm not sure.

I have read it is the 30th anniversary of the birth of the TR series of sportscars, namely the TR1 which was a preproduction model of the TR2 (a production model). As this is a rather obscure birthday of a model not produced not many people know of it or think of it.
I seem to remember it may have had a different model name and was later referred to as the TR1 much the same as the Astin Martin 2 Litre Sports was later referred to as the DB1.
