Does anybody know of a suitable sealant to use to seal the gap at the top of the side-vent where it sits against the roof pillar? I was thinking of using a general purpose black silicone sealant, but is there any better option? I don't think the original seals are available any longer.

Are you talking about the black grills/side vents behind the doors on the roof pillar? Or the window frame on the door?

Sorry, I obviously didn't make it clear, but I was talking about the black grills/side vents behind the doors, on the roof pillars.

I'd suggest a urethane seam sealer.

Was seal sealer originally used on these side vents?

Wow. You learn something every day. Thanks for that Beans, I have
never seen anything there.

I suppose our climate destroyed rubber bits, quicker than yours.
Does not seem to let water into the car, without a seal. The flaps
under it must work well.

Thank you all for all your advice - it has given me some ideas. I guess I'll be adding quite a few more questions as I progress my rebuild.

Cheers,

Mac
