Jclay and Ike

I just got a voice mail from jclay and his area of Texas has weathered the storm, however...

A tree came down on his house = big hole in the roof...

a tree came down on his cars, not much said about that...

They have running water, but no power, telephone, internet, or cable. He said that they have to stand in the middle of the street to get mobile phone signal.

I know he's been having issues with his health, and this is the last thing he needs, so please take a minute and put him, his family, and his neighbors in your thoughts. I'll take a minute later today to give him a ring.

He's more concerned that he'll not be able to share his wisdom with us for upwards of a month until his internet connection is restored.

He's safe, but tired.

I just spoke with him. His parts car is what took the hit from the tree. He's overdone it playing with all the neighbors and their chainsaws. The power company says up to 3 weeks until they have power, but he's safe and dry, and now it's sunny.

Glad to hear he is safe, when i heared that Ike comes to Houston I was in thoughts with jclay and looked for a post of him.
I understand now he is a victim of Ike, hope he will recover everything he lost.

Thank god jclay's o.k. When i first saw the post,i feared the worst.
He has had a hard time of late,but you just know he'll pull through.

he's hooked up a rectifier to his TR7 to charge his cell phone and run some small electric appliances.

Seem TR7 are always ready to help. It's a good thing he's beefed up his alternator.

It's funny how we can be so close to these people we have never met face to face.

About a year ago there was a bad storm that took out a half mile of power poles in my area. They said it could be up to a week to get power back. In the end it was about 24 hours. Let's hope the power company is giving out worst case scenarios for getting the power back on and it will actually be faster (plan for the worst and hope for the best).

We actually got the tail-end of the storm which passed through here early this morning with the 80kmp + winds and heavy rains (thankfully no damage here other than a few broken branches, and topped over garbage cans) I could only imagine what it must have been like to weather this storm when it hit the gulf shore...............

I had left a post on General Chat for him after seeing downtown Houston news footage, didn't dawn on me he might not have power. Glad to hear he, his family is OK. I should know better, we usually have 2 or 3 winter storms that knock out our power with all our trees. Two years ago one of mt trees fell on our neighbours house and cracked the ridge line. Also had a big branch fall on my 76 Spitfire putting dent in bonnet and ding in roof. Could have been worse. When he gets back on line he'll know we were thinking and pulling for him.

as some of you may know I live really close to jclay. We got hit pretty hard by the storm, not much gas water or electricity around town. My neighborhood got destroyed by tornadoes, trees through houses and windows gone etc. Our house got moderate damage, we lost some windows and part of the roof came off with our chimney but no injuries! Tons of power lines down and they estimate 2-3 weeks before my neighborhood gets power back.

I'm sitting here in a coffee house that has power drinking something other than lukewarm water and typing this post on my phone!
