30th Anniversary Edition

Postby FI Spyder » 10 Sep 2008 18:29

In the recent past people have asked about the 30th Anniversary Edition. Here is an eBay one with low mileage which seems pretty original with lots of good big pictures (if you click on them). Not the first time it's been listed so reserve must be on higher side.

17,630 original appraisal verified miles.

Wrong steering wheel and air injection has been removed.

You're right. Makes you wonder why they would replace the steering wheel at less that 18,000 miles unless the taller driver couldn't see the signal lights through the 13" wheel so put on the 14" wheel.

Also saw a coupe advertised on the web as a 30th Anniversary with same wheel.

OR this one with Solihull badge.

Still wish I had won the ebay one that was a Californian 30th Anniversary with FI and engine redone with 9 to 1 pistons. No decals put on but everything looked new and it went for $4,300 USD.

Hi All,

I have the same 14" steering wheel as the ebay car on my 30th Anniversary car. [?] I can't explain why the p.o. changed steering wheels, but I'd like to have the other...

Nice clean car though!
As for the steering... if so many 30ths have the plain steering wheel, perhaps Triumph simply ran out of the "special" ones?
(you know, considering their high quality control standards and all....)

...or it could be that the leather used on those wheels could be a little delicate. The sun will bake it right to bits if given a chance.

The EGR setup is gone off that car, too - guess they don't have emission tests in Nebraska?

They weren't really "special" just TR8 steering wheels. As for sun baking the leather my sun baked Sacramento steering wheel with 86,660 miles is in really good shape with just a surface cut on it. I don't know what kind of cleaning/restorer it saw during it's life if any although it was garage kept. The Nebraska car looks like it was cared for and there's not that much "southern sun" in Nebraska.
