Low Coolant Light Always ON

I top off the coolant, replace the sensor and the probe and the Low Coolant Light continues to be ON all the time.

1. What can of reading should I get from the proble?
2. I have more water than coolant at this point, does it make a difference?

Any pointers will be greatly appreaciated.

Does the light stay ON when you have the wire off the sensor ?

Yes,

It does not make a difference, connected or not the light is ON all the time.

This is a simple fix, there is a black canister underneath the dash that controls the warning system. The light illuminates on startup and then goes out to say that that circuit is working, if there is a problem then the light stays on regardless os whether the sensor is attached or not. These canisters are solid state and over time the electronics just get vibrated apart.

S and S should be able to find you a good second hand one for around a tenner.

That is my frustration, i got a new electronic unit/(sensor cilinder) but the same result, that leaves to believe the tank/probe is the culprit.

Does anybody knows how to measure/test the signal that I am suppose to get from the expansion tank?

is your rubber spacer still under the metal strap mine kept coming on and turned out to be the rubber missing because on mine there is only one wire on the sensor and i belive the header tank to be the earth i just put a wadge of wire wool in place of the rubber and all is well

Found a solution:

the circuit needs some modifications, a friend replaced the components according to the instructions at the above link.

It is working fine now, the circuit burns the IC too easily, it needs to be protected with a stronger resistor.

Hope it helps others out there.
