HEATER CONTROL VALVE?

Ok, previously I had posted regarding a leaking heater core. I've checked the car out thoroughly and found that there was just a leaking hose fitting under the dash. Replaced that. NOW the coolant no longer leaks WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. HOWEVER, when I turn the heat control to off, or cool, the coolant pours out like crazy. I've been told I need a "Heater Control Valve." Question: where does one find such a thing? Can't find it listed in any catalogs...have any of you dealt with this one before? Suggestions? Advice? I'm hoping to get a few more top-down days to drive before the snow flies here in Wisconsin...sure, I'll have heat, no problem, but I'd also like to solve this one before she goes away to storage for the winter...hope you can help me out with some more expert advice!

Thanks in advance for your help.

I will have to look at the heater assembly I have out in the garage.

Rob,, I originally posted an Auto Zone part # ready aire #5864 @less than $50.00. Way less expensive than a Volvo part $165.00. The Auto zone part carries the same mfg number as the original part. I received mine and it is a perfect match to the original. Also available at Kragens. It must be looked up under the Volvo application, 1974-1978 240 series Volvos. Keep the shiny side up and the greasy side dowm!!!!!!!!!!! Use the search feature to find the post "heater control valve" 4/15/08. It looks just like the one above posted by JCLAY.

Another case of where a cross reference list of parts that will fit a TR7 would come in handy.

Rob. The other part of the heater matrix is the A/C expansion valve which is also a Volvo part available from Auto Zone, Ready Aire #4680, 1975-6 240 series Volvo. I have also looked up the strut bearing which looks very much like the TR strut bearing. I plan to get a wrecking yard [breaker] for cheap before I spend $$$ on a new unit. The Volvo strut bearing appears to be a real bearing vs. friction bearing. It appears that our Wedges were built from many different parts bins.
