Sorting through the mass of paperwork that came with my new purchase last night and found a few nice items, well I think they are anyway [:I]

The car was first registered as MPX659R and I have a feeling may have been a demo for SPARSHATTS LTD of BOTLEY

Image

This is printed on white card bigger than credit card

Image

There are 3 of these plastic credit card type, first two are SPARSHATT LTD and the third must be when it transferred to a new owner

Then there is this certificate

and this warranty book with the cars details on the first page inside

Image

All these documents were stored in the original dealer vinyl wallet along with the correct handbook

And then we have all these also, on 14/3/80 the previous owner paid £50 for 12 months road tax .......[:D]

I have the same, the old service books and cards, as well as old mots and tax discs. I think a history like that is great. Although it propably doesn`t make much difference to the overall value of the car, it might give potential purchasers a bit of confidence in the cars history.

Nice one.

I have very much the same with my FHC. The car was first registered to the selling dealer, Hewitts of Walsall, and I have the Supercover card & paperwork in their name.

My car also still has the selling dealer sticker in the rear window, & the matching key ring!

I only have a couple of tax discs from it's early life though, as the car was stored for 21 years so obviously not taxed.

Nice stuff to have[:)]

If your car doesn't carry that Reg number now - then the paperwork is not for your car! Unless of course it has had a 'private' reg number installed - in which case the old reg number still belongs to the car, and it will revert to that if the private number is ever transferred away to another car.

Sorry but I don't agree, the car carried that reg for 31 years and the owner transferred it off for sentimental reasons before selling the car this week, all the history carries that reg and there are letters from DVLA showing the transfer of the reg from MPX to TAO.

For the brief time my FHC was on the road after it was first sold, & during it's long years in storage, it carried the registration APO 1 (the owners initials).

For some reason the owner wanted to keep the number when he sold the car to me - I wonder why? So DVLA gave back the original registration that was allocated to the car when the dealers, Hewitts, first registered the car in 1982.

So, the current registration matches the original paperwork but for most of it's life the car carried APO 1.

How can you get the original registration number back, if it is still available?
