YOUTUBE clip on the rolling road MY TR7V8

If you follow the link above its my recent trip to the dyno to set up the motor and check the power output.

It should have been done some time ago but I have a new camcorder and I have been wrestling with incorrect file types and files which are too large. Then its compressed it widthways so its squashed. Its been harder to load this clip than it was to build an LT77 gearbox.

If it doesn't fit you obviously need a bigger hammer.

Nice rolling road clip, sounds great, looks great even squished but what's the white smoke coming from under the car?

Re: painting, you're supposed to do the fiddley folded bits first and flat easy parts last, [:D] but hey, full marks for doing it yourself. Way to go.

230 horses! What induction/cam setup have you got? Mine topped out at 139.9HP thanks to that pesky Holly of mine. Sigh.

The smoke is the crankcase breather which just exits about 8 inches from ground level. The first time I saw that I thought we had killed it.

Awsome Sam,i cant believe how much hp you got from a carbed 3.5
What mods did you say that engine has?
In comparison,my 4.6 is supposed to put out 260 at the flywheel,i recently
re jetted and rodded it (careful now) and have yet to get it back on the
dyno to see how much xtra its gained.
Looks like i need to stage three it to beat ya now!!

Anyway, thanks for a 'bonzo' video. Shame the car is acting like a 'dog', at least you will have no problems with the 'doo dah' brigade and so shouldn't get 'band' for speeding.

The motor started life as a 1984 3.5l SD1 which gives out 155 as standard. Then for the rebuild I retained the original pistons as they are work hardened so stronger than new "green castings. The bores were honed and new rings fitted. The crank was reground with all new bearings. A piper 270 cam was fitted with an adjustable vernier timing wheel and the cam timing was adjusted to suit the cam. The heads from the original engine had already had some work done but I re seated the original valves. My only regret was not replacing the valve guides. Inside the head ports you could see the valves had waisted stems and the valve guides had been cut right back to remove them rom the air stream completely. The block and heads were skimmed very slightly and composite gaskets were used so as not to increase the compression. A brand new Edelbrock performer inlet manifold and carb were fitted and I blueprinted the inlet to the heads. A Mallory unilite distributor was next with a Hyfire 6 CDI unit and promaster coil to give a big fat juicy spark. Obviously in a wedge it has tubular exhaust manifolds.

I must confess I was surprised at how high the reading came out but Alan Jeffries assured me that their machine was accurate so I'm grinning.
