Bumper Facelift

Postby wedgewa » 24 Jul 2008 05:06

My 1980 7 is nearing the completion of a very well done repaint. The new paint looks spectacular. So I was looking at my original (USA) black bumpers today on the floor. These bumpers looked "appropriate" to the condition of the original 28 year old paint. Now the same bumpers look awful next to the new finish. I haven't found a good way to bring back the looks of these big hunks of Bayflex.

Someone here must know how! Help.

We have some spray on stuff called Armorall, in Oz, which is used
for shining up tyres, dash boards etc.

I don't know what's in it, [they don't tell you], but it works well
on my tyres, dash, & bumpers, on both my UK spec 7, & US spec 8. It
brings them both up to a nice low sheen finish, similar to, but a
little less shiny than tyres.

There are about 6 similar products that have appeared since it did,
so you should have similar stuff.

Each application sinks in, & after a few the thing looks great.
