Tyre pressures for MG wheels

Postby samco » 19 Jul 2008 07:38

I have a set of 15 inch MG wheels fitted and they are 195 on the front and 205 on the rear. Anyone got these fitted and can recommend tyre pressures.

If it doesn't fit you obviously need a bigger hammer.

Hi Samco, I too run MGF wheels with the same tyre setup. Having messed around a lot with pressures, I find 28 pound per square inch is just about right. Mind you I am running 200lb springs and uprated suspension with poly bushes etc etc.

Cheers

It seems to me that the best pressure with these wheels & tyres is quite dependent on the suspensions set up. When I first fitted them I was running at 26 / 28 and it sat on the road like it was glued down, however having replaced the springs, shocks and bushes found it was suffering from oversteer, so currently am running at 24 / 30 which seems to have solved the problem. Garage put 30 all round which didn't help either.

Try it until it feels right seems to be the best soloution.

24 at the front seems very low - do the tyres not scrub horribly and wear on the edges ?
