Hi Guys
I am fustrated.
I have just finished doing:
*Brakes
**bushins all around
***anti-skid kit
****centered roll bars with new bushins
*****springs and shocks w all new stufffff.
******Tie rod ends
*******ball joints
*Wheel Bearings.
**wheels and tires 195/55/15
***ALigned ( Info in aligment dought- on the TR7 forum)
*****Apart from learning how to spell
What is wronggggggggggggggggg????????

.75" in. lower on the rear drivers side
.50" in. on the front drivers side
Please , any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated.

I would try swapping the springs over from side to side. Easy enough at the rear (so try that first) - bit more 'fun' at the front!

Where did you take the measurements?
Check ground - wheel arch distance <u>and</u> distance from axle line to top mount. See how they compare.

Ever noticed how when you park on a slope the highest tyre always looks like its got a puncture. Has the car spent a long time stored on a slope (over many years)causing more load on the springs on one side. Sounds like a silly question but is the car on dead level ground when you take your measurements. Next are the tyres the same pressure and brand (type) on both sides. Finally I heard a great story once from an EX R&D guy from Jaguar who told me that when the XJS was at the development stage one team worked on one side of the MODEL/BUCK and another team on the other side. When the car went into production there was a problem with the body assembly jigs only to find the the distance between the wheelarches on one side was 3/4 of an inch longer than the other. I never checked this fact, does anyone have an XJS and a tape measure.

As most cars spent 90% of there time with just a driver on board I suspect its due to the springs just being loaded more on that side over the last 30 years

If it doesn't fit you obviously need a bigger hammer.

First ,if thats you in the pictures?
You are an ugly SOB.
ALL The suspension is new
So are ALL the bushins
The wheels and tires are of the same size and brand, air is 30PSI in the morning before takin out ,all around.
I am perplexed .
I will be switching the rear springs on monday.
Will see if its the springs or its just Brithish.
I think you are doing a great job with your car .
i wish I had the space to go all the way like yours.

UPDATE:
I have just finished switching the rear springs.
Faced the top-start of the springs forward as stated on the manual.
loosend all the screws on the arms and rear sway bar.
Lowered the car
drove the car for a a mile or so.
then tighten the bolts all around.
The results where the same .
the drivers side rear is .75 lower than the right
and the front drivers side is .5 lower than its other side.
So??? Conclution:
The springs are fine.
checked the rubber rings ( New ones) they are fine and properly placed.
What do I have left ,
But to buy a .75 rubber spacer for the rear????
It does not feel right .
Does anybody have other idea Ideas.

All I can think of is to do the geometry on the chassis mounts. Perhaps some accident damage has bent something somewhere.

Is the car sitting on a level floor?

Put it on axle stands & take some measurements with the wheels off.

Take the body out of the trunk.

Jack the car up good and high under the 'high' side rear suspension - and leave it overnight!

Are the measurement you are taking from the wheel arch lips - or are they from datum points on the 'chassis' ?

Thank you guys .I was about to give up.
I measure the height from the floor to the top of the rear arch on the car dead center of the wheel, the ground is level ,I measured it.
it is Noticeable that the left is lower at plain sight.
The car has no noticeable signs of any ,even slight, damage.

bmcecosse do you mean?
place the jack under the rear suspension arm
lift the car ,off the ground,
by this ,Squeezing the spring tightly?? over night???AS tight as possible RIGHT??

Well yes - although my idea was more to see if any 'set' in the chassis would relax ! But you should take your measurements from ground to the chassis rails - the wheel arch lips could be anyhwere!
