Have to agree with Paul, Rimmers do a great catalogue, Robsport and S&S are the best at the rest.

Hi,

They've charged me too much, took ages to get a refund.
They've sent out the wrong bits...
They've not given me the 20% discount during the offer period..
Their customer service is terrible..
They put the prices up all the time..
Their prices are way too high anyway..
They're number one priority is to make money..

Basically go somewhere else if you can!

Dave

Hi
I posted this because i am having a bad experience with them.
You guys are in the UK
But I'm in Sunny South florida ,
with the warm breaze coming from the caribean
The pool full of young girls
for you girls, full of young men ,
and my TR7
Ta la! la! la! laaaaa!la!
No,no, let me not go there, Seriously.

I had two orders delivered.
They both came in on time and as requested.
Except ,that:
The bill was not as agreed.

I have been talking to them and they have been quoting me in US $$$$
and confirm the amount in total in US $$$
and then when I get my credit car bill. Vouala.
The same numbers as given ,but, nowwwww, they are UK Pounds.
Thats double Man.
To May defense:
I have aouthorized all the payments by e-mail and stated clearly the amount in $$$
on both occations.
If there was a dought on there end ,they should have contacted me, i good faith .
but they din't .they just billed
So that is the story
I have been trying to reason and clear the issue with them but
they won't admit wrong doing.
So, I told them i would place everything in a box and sent it back C.O.D
They won't pay the shipping.
So there i am , I feel I was taken advantage of .
Worst yet ,they placed a sour note on one of the things I love the most
MY TR7
SOrry if I have bored you guys but It just :
l*&$*ksadg o tpy(*%*#tht 4hsh g.)(^*&&^$#@@%#$OFF
If I was in UK I would go and give them a verbal Beating..
It's not over ,tills its over,
I wish they wake up tomorrow and changed there minds ,come to some equatible agreement ,
that's just wishful thinking.

Hey Zeke,

If it gets nasty, notify your credit card company over the dispute. I am pretty sure that it will get cleared up with your e-mail evidence. The bad news is that you will be on rimmers' bad list for any future purchases.

I think the diffeence between Rimmers and the other specialists is the personal touch, both S+S and Robsport are both run by the owners who are really keen to keep their hard earned reputations, any problems they take it personally. Rimmers seem to depend mainly on staff who try hard but dont all have the same level of experience . The bottom line is that without Rimmers some of the parts we need would be unnobtainable because they hold massive stocks which the smaller specialists couldnt afford.

Well I don't know if things are different in the States, Zeke, but if you were over here with that kind of dispute then you would go to the card issuer & initiate a chargeback dispute.

Basically that would mean the seller has to prove the transaction & produce their supporting evidence or authorisation to charge your card account. If the evidence is your emails quoting the price in dollars then your card issuer should sort this for you.

I have never had any real problems with Rimmers, although getting definative advice or information from them about some of their products can be hard work! As Chris says, the likes of S&S or Robsport have a far more personal touch & genuine knowledge about our cars, IMHO.

But Rimmers do carry a shed load of stock - last year I bought uprated rear springs for my DHC from S&S. When they came (from S&S) they still had their Rimmers stickers on them. So I was happy to do business with S&S, but clearly they sometimes have to get stock from Rimmers. I wasn't concerned about the deal, the springs are fine, but it maybe demonstrates a more complex trade relationship than is immediately apparent.

Hope you get things sorted Zeke.

We have a simular situation here in the USA where there is one catalog to look at...Victoria British. But if you order from VB, the person who takes the order probably has never changed the oil in a car, much less restored a TR8. To get any sort of useful service when ordering parts you have to order from one of the few owner operated shops.

Per chance I own a mail order company which primarily exports out of the USA. ALWAYS assume that the payment amounts are in the currency of the country you are ordering from. This is something most people would not know because in the USA you normally do not have to place orders to a foreign country to get what you want.

There is also a minority of people who are interested in trying to cheat someone else. There are people who do not know what they are doing and make mistakes. If you are sure that you have been wronged, then there are ways to get (most of)your money back. Otherwise you just have to accept that there is more risk to selling/buying outside of your country.

Lets not grumble too much about the parts suppliers,
Without them its a lot more difficult to keep our cars on the road.

Hey Zeke is your dash two tone grey? Looks nice btw.

I own an import Export Co.
I specialize in lighting fixtures .
We Broker Merchandise from the orient , Germany and ITaly.
To Venezuela, Colombia , Brazil and Argentina.
I so understand the outs and ins of the exchanges.
So,When you ask for a Quote in $ and get it in $ and the amounts don't match up in pounds ???.
Face the error , find out what happened , fix it ,fast, make the client happy, so you didn't make a profit ,this time ,so what.
take it on the chin, and to the next deal.
There have been bigger co. brought down just because they forgot
that they are in business to service the clients . When they forget , its over.
Woolworth,Sears,Kmart just to mention a few resent ones.

Onthe Dash.
its gray, it does not look like this now ,I have taken it apart , soon you I will installing wood all around . Made by A now friend
who is just really good with his hands .
AS soon as I figure out how to make an album here, I will show my progress.
Thank you for your concern
I will keep you informed
Have fun
Be Safe
Zeke
