Paint doesn't quite match.

Postby emwmarine » 05 Jul 2008 08:29

Just sprayed my front wing Carnelion red having put a new wheelarch on, and it doesn't quite match the rest of the car. A previous poster said it was hard to match Carnelion Red - especially as the car has been repainted before and that colour may not be an exact Carnelion red match.

Nothing for it but to blow over the rest of the car.

Annoying, as I thought I had finished the bodywork. It would stand out like a sore thumb if I left it though.

As someone that does autobody for a living, I can tell you that even matching factory colors can be difficult at times. Matching a respray can be downright impossible. You could try and have the existing color scaned. Sometimes it works better than others but it would be worth a shot before you do the whole car over.

NU-AGAIN in Bedford did that and got it close but still not enough not to show up quite easily. Looks like a respray other than the roof and pillars.

Any colour of red is hard to match because red is the colour most affected by sunlght (UV?). The older the paint the harder to match. The only way to match is to get lucky or respray entire vehicle.
