Bare Bodyshell - what would you do?

Hi

The recent thread about Sprint engines got me thinking about why I specified my bare-shell re-build the way I did. Here's what I ended up with from my empty pallette... (final spec but by no means all fitted yet due to the demands of small sons).

Body

Standard, in yellow with UK-spec bumpers and spoiler, black soft top and US-option boot rack.

Engine

Tuned 16V with sports manifold and exhaust, K&N filters, Kent cam etc.

Interior

Black & red check seats with large black headrests and red check door cards, black dashboard & trim, black carpets, rollover hoop and BMW Z3 wind deflector. Black leather gear lever surround and handbrake gaiter. TR8 steering wheel in black leather. Possible wood-effect trim around instruments only, not decided yet.

Wheels

Standard alloys with 205/60*13 tyres.

Brakes

TR8 solid discs with 4-pot calipers

Suspension

Koni front, Spax rear, standard springs and anti-dive kit. New, standard bushes.

Cries of "yuk" as regards the colour and trim combo no doubt, but I think it looks fine and goes well enough while retaining good ride comfort.

What would you have done? What have you done in a similar situation? What's your absolutely ideal spec? Have you already got it?

Cheers

Graham

Nice but where are the pics.... [;)]

As for me, well see my thread in the TR7 V8 section. [:D]

Ultimate spec would be seem welded shell, better rear end with a LSD (4 link setup maybe and a panhard or watts setup). Sort out the front suspesnion, power steering and a stonking V8. Might be Rover, but its not really an idea motor for big HP unless you have BIG ££££/$$$$. But keeping it BL would mean 4.6 with a wild cam and possible some form of FI making a min of 400hp [8][:D]

Sounds good to me but I would have ditched the red and gone with solid black cards and seats. Possibly put Victory black stripe on it if you like stripes.

I would think the tyres are oversize for the rims - and the wheels may not sit over the larger discs ? Larger 15" diameter wheels (ex MGF)will fit well and fill the wheel arches very nicely!
