Here is the link to my slide show of the Van Dusen Gardens All British Field Meet held on (Queen) Victoria Day Weekend.

The weather was sunny and 30C and over 500 cars showed up (probably closer to 600). Unfortunately I wasn't able to show my Spider as it had a clutch release problem. More on that later. You'll notice a lot of bonnets were up. You could eat off of these engines.

I had my FHC entered but unfortunately it didn't make it either.
No fault of it's own, my MG had major brake hydraulic problems on the way to the show and after making it there I ran out of time to get back and pick up the TR. That was a big disappointment on all counts, particularly when I saw that there was only one other FHC entered, a TR8.
The drive in the brakeless MG was way too exciting...gear down, gear down pump, pump, pump...pray, stop! By far the scariest part was the entry to the gardens parking lot when they slotted me in line behind a new Bentley Continental Coupe. I'll tell ya I really didn't want to rear end that car!

Unfortunately I didn't see you Rich but I wan't there long as I had my 92 year old Dad there, he said in amazement "All these cars look brand new". We left in an hour and a half as I had to pickup a clutch master cylinder from Octagon and visit my nephew and grand niece who lives a few blocks from there.

A friend of mine got first (but there were only two TR7's). Next year going for best unrestored, first time displayed and TR7 category[8D].

Fantastic show F1 - you make me really jealous - both the cars and the weather! Is this the 'British Car Day' that I attended in Victoria a few years ago ??

No this show is in Vancouver. You are refering to OECC South Island Chapter's Fathers Day Picnic at Beacon Hill Park next to the cricket courts. About 250 cars show up and it's on June 15th in a few weeks. I will be going to that one as I took my car for it's first spin today.

F1, You actually have my MG in a couple of your pics.
I was parked alongside 2 Jowett Jupiters just in front of the Alvis contingent. Unfortunately the Jowetts were my competition in my class and I could only manage a 3rd place.
I am thinking of attending the OECC event in Victoria but the cost of the ferry and the fact that it's on Father's day makes it difficult.
Here's a pic of the MG.

Cheers,
Rich
