identifying a paint colour?

hi,
can anyone tell me how best to identify the colour of a car thats been resprayed at some time in what i assume is a non standard colour.
my cars brg and looks very like a mgrover colour.
any ideas

I believe you could apply for a Heritage Certificate. That would tell you for sure.

if you go to Halfords they should be able to tell you the colour of your car as it is now. with a little gizmo machine that they have
if you are after it's original colour you will find a plate normally on the drivers side turret under the Bonnet with code for the original finished colours ie CCF. GHG then if you phone or look on Rimmers site you will find the code represents a colour etc etc.

Go to the nearest paint / body shop. They have a device which they place on the painted bonnet or something else. This device scannes the colour codes and should give a list of results which colour it is.
With this list you can check if any original rover / triumph colour is near the scanned colour.
Exact matches do not come often but it is a good tool to get to the right direction.
