Hi,
I am sure this has poss covered else where [?] But has anyone got any pictures of alternative to the standard heater fresh air intake under the bonnet?
Due to the intake manifold and airfiter (making the use of the standard clip on duct affair difficult) i am running plus not using a enclosed breather system (catch tank instead) a certain amount of fumes find there way into the cabin [xx(]!
At Stonleigh a couple of years back there was a rally TR7 running a ducting pipe over the heater intake i seam to remenber. Considering fabricating something similar so if any pictures would be great [:)]

Now Beans made a hole right next to the radiator, but I have seen
TR8s with two air ducts in place of the plastic covers in the front
corners of the inside wings. I intend to come from one of those
covers back to the heater inlet when I rebuild my heater/a-c this
summer.

John,if your using a 14" filter like me you may find it easy to just
adapt the scoop like mine -

Just a small recess in the front lip of scoop.

Beans, thanks for the new picture. I've been hoping to see that. Do you find much difference in the airflow properties with the hose vs. the plenum? Do you get more air, less, or about the same? Thanks.

Less air, but still enough to get the windows demisted.
Have to admit that I do use the side windows a lot. Mostly to get excessive heat out of the car [:I]

I have the plan to adapt it to fit a 3" hose one day ...
Or fot a scoop somewhere in the front of the car ...
Or both ?

Hi John,

If You are trying to get more air into the cabin of the car , Have
you thought about using the fresh air intake that some of the
USA cars had :- ie YKC566 ("A" post ventilator flap) my car has these
and they are very good at getting fresh air into the footwells as
they take the air from within the front wing/nose areas.

John, I am going to be doing the same. I was thinking making up a flat plate with a PVC plumbing elbow attached. Just got the car on the road and don't notice fumes but seems hotter than before. I suspect with the intake sitting open, the underhood heat is being pushed into the cabin.

Hi Ian,
Looked at modifying the standard set up this weekend but with the airfilter i have and the Wildcat manifold that bit higher than a Offy or such like then a 'snorkel' type arrangement may be on the cards,will post some pics when i have worked something out. Poss along the lines of Bean's (cheers for the pics [:)] ) but without the excellent alloy welding [;)]
