Why?

Why are we so enamored with these old stubborn pieces of British history? Why can't we just believe the critics when they say TR7s are ugly, undependable, shoddy departures from the British Sports Car Tradition?

Wouldn't it just be easier and more economical to just let them go to the crusher? How can we justify the cost, i.e. financially, mentally, emotionally, physically and matrimonially, to ourselves and others?

Too may questions! I've got to go out and work on my car!

Well, you could go and buy a TVR. Some of the wiring on the earlier ones was a bit average.
It,s hard to get a good earth on a fibreglass body.
Anyway, 280bhp in a car weighing 1,000kg works for me. [^]
And 3 years of V8 rally history still means something.

I suppose you could always go and play golf. [:)]

My heart attacks didn't hurt my golf game!

I still don't know how to play . . .

I wish Tony Ponds knew how to drive like I do!

At least you're not spending the money on booze, loose women or drugs.

Or maybe you are, and THAT's why your sex and chemical addled brain thinks a rusty little sportscar is a good idea...

Well, over here they don't command a lot of respect either. I do notice more showing up at the Brit car meets we have. Far as I'm concerned, the TR8s over here are the best kept secret in the sports car world. A fella on the MG forum has located one that looks to be very solid and original for $3500 including a new interior kit. Needs paint top & the interior installed to be really nice. Where are you going to buy a bonafide V8 sportscar for that sort of money? Not good news for those selling but what a steal for a car engineered way ahead of it's time. The TR7s may not have the brute acelleration but offer the same look, handling and comfort for even less.
