Sagging side lite surounds

Postby paul w » 05 Apr 2008 21:08

You know those plastic black surrounds around the side light that fit
into the front bumper.Well i am fed up of seeing 'em droop!Nearly all
the wedges i see has this problem.I tried submerging them in ho****er
reshaping and plunging in cold water to set,and then super gluing to
the bumper. This works for a time, but after a while they sag again.
Does anyone have a cure for this affliction?

See ya. Paul

Hi Paul,
I running a US spec front bumper and although Rimmers ect list them for this bumper i am not running them myself. Will brave the blizzard outside [;)] (well snow shower but you know what happens when we have 1/8" of snow!!!) and take a picture. The repo surrounds you can get now seem to be made out of a softer material not sure if that would fit any better?
Cheers John.

The US type skin have these surrounds as an integral part of the skin. The parts listings are wrong in this.
So, I maintain: Fit the skin and your problem is over.
Best regards,

How about reinforcing them with a strip of metal on the top of the pod?

You could install the strips on the outside, top of the pod before you install the unit so that the stirp is hidden behind the bumper cover. And since hardly anyone ever gets on the ground to look at the pods, the attaching screws, nuts, pop-rivets, etc. wouldn't be seen.

Just a suggestion!
