Holy cow they got expensive quick!!!! The metal heater return hose went from 45 bucks to 60 overnight. About 75% of my order went up in price since my last catalog. I'm going to have to wait for the nylon seat kit. Went from $349.00 to $419.00.....unbelieveable. Then there was the $25.00 shipping and handling charge....that's such a joke. [xx(]

Awwww man,[V]

I hope I'm not going to need any parts soon. Of course I'll just be glad to have the car back on the road as soon as the paint job is finished. It's been in dry dock since early December. (I miss my car [V].)

I think VB's price increase may just be reflecting the increase in fuel/energy (read oil) and the dropping dollar value. And, yes, it is ridiculous.[:(!]

least you don't have to deal with broker/border fees , Blackadar.

Some of the extra's are really getting pricey, not to mention the delays in shipping........

The drop in the US dollar will ripple up the prices. A new Honda Ridgeline (made in Canada) costs about $57,000 in Canada and $40,000 in the US. Same truck, dollar at par. It's all marketing but with falling US dollar there's not much room to cushion that. The same will apply to VB's prices as much of it is imported.

I want to order some wheel arches from Rimmers and shipping is $200. Considering that pars are only $220, shpping will be almost as much as the parts [:(] I will try to find someone else local to me who wants to order from them so that we can split the costs [;)].

One strange thing, though. There was an Ebay auction for similar arches and that British seller was asking for $80 to ship them. Sounds like some of these vendors might be marking-up their shipping cost...

I'm with Beans on this - We should all join the common market curr€ncy!
Not just that guy down in Venezuela, but all of us!
Then there'd be no fluctuations - and we'd all be one happy family...[:D]

Sorry odd but speaking as a Brit the very last thing I want is to join the Euro. Most Brits will tell you that although we are only 22 miles from France we feel much closer to the good old US of A. We have much more in common with America than with Europe and I would vote for the dollar over the Euro any day of the week. Not too long ago our government tried to force the Euro on us and there was nearly a revolt, which just goes to show the strength of feeling about this subject.

Join the Euro "never"

If it doesn't fit you obviously need a bigger hammer.

Right now, I'd be happy to switch the other way, Samco - get rid of the dollars and switch to Pounds Sterling! Everything I buy would be half price! [:D]

We actually find it the other way around, things which are available in the UK and in the States tend to be the same price in numbers, but in pounds and dollars respectively. I recently bought an HP printer. Looking at there US website it was $299, in the UK the list price was £299. As there are 2$ to the £ this does not seem good to us. Many consumer items have the price jumped up for sale in the UK compared to the US and most of Europe, but joining the Euro would not change this (and I personally would not want to). Prices would still be cheaper elsewhere as they set the price according to what they think the market will stand. You can travel to get things cheaper (as people have done importing new cars from Belgium etc in the past, and going to France for alcohol and tobacco now), but apart from those things most don't bother.

Not to fan the flames on this topic too much, but. Until the various governments and monetary authorities cease the devaluing of our various denominations, Dollars, Pounds, Shekels, we are doomed to repeat the financial nightmare of the 1970's. You do remember the 1970's, don't you? That was when our cars went from $5100US in 1975, to $5649US in 1976 only to be reduced for the Big TR7 sale of $4995US towards the end of the year. 1977 saw the price go to $5849US, 1978 was $6995US, 1979 was $7695US, 1980 was $8645US, and 1981 was $10,995US. These are the listed MSRP for the coupes except for the 1981 model which is the convertible.

There you have it, just on this one item alone, more than double the price in 6 years. Expand this out to all other items one needed to have to live. Think how it will be now and how your money in the bank will lose it's value as each day goes by. The one lesson we the people learned was to go ahead and buy your necessities now as tomorrow they will cost just that much more. If there was a consolation prize, bank interest rates accelerated upwards with the inflation rates. Now, however, I don't see that happening.

Please pardon my old age cynicism, 35 years ago I still had a measure of youthful optimism and hopes for the future. But, I have been down this rocky road before and resent mightly having it in my path or anyone elses, again.
