FRONT FOGS ON A TR7

Hi all will front fog light fit on the standard BL fron spoiler? just curious thats all.

Do you mean using the spoiler as a fixing point?

Best fixing point is the front bumper this is mineâ€¦

If it's not broke don't fix it.

If you want to do it properly you'll need the original brackets which mount to the chassis boxsections just behind the bumper. Unipart nr. YKC3721

Thanks Stevie, yes the way you have your fog lights fitted is how i meant, is it a tricky job to fit?

No if you look at the bumper there are small holes all the way along

There are two just in the correct position just elongate the hole and bolt them up

It has very good access for your spanners so you can tighten the bolts up

Just one thing tighten then up but not all the way ,then wait until dark then go on to a

quite road turn them on adjust the light so that it lights shine on the correct bit of road

then tighten then all the way upâ€¦

If it's not broke don't fix it.

Rimmers usually have sets of front fogs in their Christmas sale, usually about Â£20. I bought a set of Unipart ones recently for Â£12 off e bay.It is very difficult to find original brackets, Stevies method of fixing looks good.

Bracket shouldn't be difficult to make.
And all the holes in the body are there already ...

Beware!
The fog light brackets in the above E-bay auction are the ones intended for the FHC!
They are handed left and right btw. [Ted Schumacker sells them still...]

The ones for the DHC can be seen in Beans picture above.
They are not handed...

Many thanks guys for all youre help, the fog lights did u say Odd are foe a FHC, what about the bracket the same guy has for sale is there any difference in that?

Steve, it is the brackets that are for a Fhc, the lights can be used on either.

Mine are on a FHC ...

I think the ones on E-bay are the "earlier" version whereas the ones I have on the car were for the later modelyears.

Also there is no difference in that area on a DHC or a (later model) FHC [;)]

Cheers Gary sorry i mis read it wrong first time round, to tell you the truth, i bought my DHC this spring gone, body work etc was fine a few niggles here and there, but there were quite alot of bits & pieces missing from the car, but again i worked that on the price, so thats why every other day im always asking where this should go and so forth, so any bits that i need for the car im getting from various sorces ebay etc, but just to always be sure i always ask you guys, hope thats ok, im relatively new to the Tr scene, always loved the cars, and everyone on here have been a great help to me in either sourcing parts, or with a problem ive had, & was great to have put a face to a few peple at the classic car show the other week.

Steve, you are always welcome to ask as many questions as you like, that's probably how most of us learnt in the first place. We are all here to help and are all happy to help. By doing so we can keep the marque going. None of us can know everything as we are always on a learning curve, it is thanks to forums like this that we can persevere with whatever we are doing. The old adage of a problem shared is a problem halved is so true here. A lot of very knowledgeable people all happy to share their own experiences.
