The original 4 valve Triumph.

Postby Hasbeen » 09 Oct 2022 15:25

Our local Triumph club has been having trouble getting members to the monthly Wednesday night club meetings since there were no meetings for 6 months with the covid lock downs, so changed to a Saturday morning meeting with a free pizza & a light beer to follow.

It worked, 40 instead of about 8, & a nice impromptu show & shine, with the 7s out numbering all the rest. I left mine at home as a mate offered to take me in his. An interesting surprise when he turned up in his Dolly Sprint. What a great little car they are, & it is obvious the attraction of the Sprint engine in a 7 after my ride. Down boy, you don't need a Sprint engine in the 7.

I didn't realise how small the Dolly is until I saw it parked amongst the TRs.

A club member is selling his Dolly Sprint (A Swiss car that got to Vancouver Island by way of NYC). He has succumbed to the Old Man's disease of selling off the small old British cars and driving an older Jag. A friend has a Sprint engine in his TR7 coupe (was in his convertible). I didn't think back then it had that much more hp but it turned out one of the rockers had like a quarter inch play. He had never checked it out when he got it, just installed it. He had been told it should be that noisy. :P

Hasbeen, Good to see you are attracted to the "dark side" of Sprint engined TR7s
