I’ve heard good reports about powerlite although I’m still running an original Range Rover V8 starter motor on mine.

I have tubular manifolds on mine and with the adjacent steering column the starter motor is in a congested area. Ive no idea if the powerlite version fits without fouling with this combination, maybe someone on the forum who’s done so can confirm all’s ok.

Hi, I have had a High Torque starter on my V8 for many years, about 2003 I think, I purchased it from S&S and not had any problems with it at all, I also had one on my 7, again from S&S and no problems.
I have no knowledge of the Powerlite ones but I have never had any problems with the High Torque starters and would reccomend them to anyone.
Cheers

The Powerlite unit is smaller than the standard unit so you will have plenty of space around a tubular manifold and steering link. I'll post a photo tomorrow

I got mine off eBay. It is a Gustafson starter (adapter plate). The starter itself is a Nippon starter.

When the original starter seized on my Grinnall TR8 in 2018 I replaced it with a Powerlite and it's been fine. It turns the engine over at a good rate even when the battery is a bit low.
