Through one of my FB pages i run i asked the question

Tax it online and you just have to tick a box declaring you have not modified vehicle and declare mot exemption
If it's not broke don't fix it.

I sorned my TR7 a few years ago, I have the sorn statement, however DVLA wouldn't except it because they said the car has been off the road before the requirements where changed
As it is still classed as untaxed they can't change this unless I tax it.
I am going to phone them again and see if I can get this issue sorted.
I'll keep you up dated.

They do seem have made it all as obscure as possible when it should be easy.
Mine is currently SORN and I have sent the pack of forms to DVLA so will see what happens. If necessary I will tax for a month and then cancel it once it is registered as tax free but I hope there will not be a problem as it wastes a lot of time sending things backwards and forwards.

First road tax free miles today :D Not many, but enough to have a bunch of roofers give the wedge a thumbs up.

Hope they weren't wolf whistles as well from the roofers, that could get them into serious trouble

Hopefully I'll have some more luck now after speaking to DVLA on the phone.
I have downloaded the correct V10 and sent everything off to the Taxation Department along with the build sheet and V10 and Logbook. Fingers crossed :)

Did they say how long it is taking at the moment? I sent my pack as tracked signed for so I know they had it on the 9th April, no change in tax status on the DVLA website as yet. I don't expect anything too fast and have to have an op next week so will not be able to drive it for a few weeks but it would be good to have an idea.

Hi all, I received my Heritage Certificate today and my car was built on the 10th June 1981 and registered on the 24th June 1982 does this mean that I will have to wait until next April to register the car as Historic?

I think so. I don’t know why April is the cut off date. I had to wait until April 2021 to register mine as an historic, as it didn’t turn 40 years old until after April 2020.

They didn't give me a time on processing but I should imagine you'll be looking at least 4 to 6 weeks. Fingers crossed though they are getting all the staff back which means they should get through all the back log of car stuff
