It defeats the purpose of lower wattage LED bulbs if you have to fit ballast resistors to up the wattage just to get the damned things to flash!

Hi Cobber

You don't need to fit ballast resistors so long as you replace both flasher units installed on a TR7. Most of us have replaced the indicator flasher as its easy to access and routinely causes problems with the flash rate due to bad earths, but since the hazard flasher is stuffed away behind the glove box and doesn't normally cause any problems its not replaced.

The main reason for swapping the lights to LED's is to reduce the electrical load & the resistors (4 No 6.8 Ohm / 50W) was a temporary solution until I changed the hazard flasher.

Don't the EEC regulations state that you must have a warning system to let you know in the event of an indicator bulb failure?

On moderns maybe, but they were certainly not fitted on our 40 year old cars.

+1 for the electronic indicator / flasher unit - not slowing down at junctions
