Any idea why I would want to buy a TR7 VIN plate?

It's on the https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk website as a TR7 with a 3528cc engine

I can't see any advantage unless I was restoring a bag of bits that had no V5

I didn't think it was legal to sell the VIN of a car? I thought that was used when they did naughty things like cloning to change the identity of a vehicle.
