8v intake

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried fabricobbling a new intake for the 8v head. Maybe not a full sheet metal wondrous intake, but maybe modifying and original. Been wondering if it would result in any power to delete that vacuum equalizer tube and the EGR stuff. Or would this just be a complete waste of time? I have two (2) intakes and I've been thinking about taking some measurement's and either making a new one to suit the zenith/SU bolt pattern or making one that would suit some weber carbs. There's also that heat exchanger that runs along the bottom. Really there's alot going on for a simple intake....
