Headlights squawk when going up and down

It all works fine, but the noise is awful. I guess some lubrication is needed. Has anyone any experience or advice before I set out sorting this?
Thanks
Al

Turn the power off before you do anything to the headlight mechanism - I normally find that a can of spray grease will get into everything ok and stop the noises.
Cheers

While the battery is disconnected and you are in there spraying, I would hand cycle the mechanism through complete range to make sure there is no physical contact anywhere due to misalignment/loose rubber surround etc. You never know. Any assumption can lead you down the garden path.

I know these headlights come in for a lot of criticism but with the odd spray of silicone fluid mine have never given any problems in 37 years! supercass

As FI Spyder writes disconnect the battery before you start working in the area underneath the headlamps!
Or you might loose some fingers. Because turning the knob underneath the lift motor very slightly will otherwise actuate the motors.
And they will only stop when the headlight is fully raised

Other possibility is to disconnect the red connectors in the engine bay behind the headlamps, as per red label in the engine bay.
This has the added advantage that you can clean the connectors contacts while you're at it!
Said label is visible in the lower right corner of the picture below.
