Off Piste..Roy Fidler Triumph Rally Driver

Postby bonnietiler » 27 Jul 2016 22:27

It's funny isn't it, I lived in what is now a suburb of Greater Manchester, but as a boy...the Poynton side of Hazel Grove..it really was like living in the rural countryside, Woodford Aerodrome was just over the next field..Sunday just wasn't Sunday without a Bristol Orpheus Engine test, better than any Cock-crow I can tell you! In the early 60's and at the end of our road there were always parked on the drive and I used to look touch and lean against them Triumph 2000 Rally Cars..I well remember the the London Sydney car just parked on the drive of his private house. He was a nice bloke he had a Fish and Chip shop and a small wholesale business.."Fidlers for Fish". Not too much chance of a young lads lifelong love of all things "Triumph" being initiated by sitting in a full works Rally car these days I suppose?
