Free Rover P6

Postby stevie_a » 17 Jun 2016 21:40

OK guys I have been offered a Rover P6 3.5 v8 for free

Abandoned car, to much work for me.

But if anyone wants it for parts let me know.

It has been sitting from years I put a photo on years ago

I will take some photos tomorrow.

Could be good for some parts.

Those 700 series Volvos weren't a bad thing either.
Quite liked the 760 GLE I had.

Hi,

Real shame that P6 has ended up like that, they were a great car, especially the V8S 8) , De Dion rear end, in board discs on the rear and complicated front suspension, not so great !

I too had a 760GLE Cobber, lovely car, 2.9 V6 but thirsty as anything. Not good with our petrol prices!

I found it quite economical, at least by Oz standards, and at Oz fuel prices of course!

I was used to 1.3 or 1.6 4 pots before I got it so I suppose all things are relative. :D

Yes, it's all relative. When I bought my '71 Javelin V8 I was getting 24 mpg (27 following a greyhound bus once) but as I was paying 33 cents an imperial gallon ($3 to fill the tank, had a relatively small gas tank) I didn't mind. When I sold it (in 1985) and bought a little Dodge Colt the gas gauge would hardly move on a trip down to Victoria. But you get used to that pretty quick.
