Hi,

My red FHC, Fifi, don't ask ! not my idea that's down to my daughters, something to do with maths and a Ozzy radio DJ my eldest has been on air with a number of times, as say don't ask. Although built in May dispatched in May was registered 40 years ago today :D

She was used by a dealer as a demo, well the owners wife used it and was quickly sold to a gent who had one on order but wanted to jump the que ! He traded a Datsun 120Y in for her, still got the receipt and a long letter from him detailing his time spent with Fifi, how cool is that !

Cheers John

Well done John, thats a great milestone for your TR7. And its looking really good for 40, probably not that many left in that condition. Plus knowing the history adds to the car.

Have you give it a special wash and polish yet :D

Cheers,
Dave

Hi John,

I wouldn't get your hopes up yet! I've looked into it a bit and there are lots of different versions on how people read into it. But to quote...

"The chancellor announced the measure in his Budget “so that from April 1 each year, vehicles constructed more than 40 years before the January 1 of that year will automatically be exempt from paying vehicle exercise duty".

So I think that if your 7 was built before January 1 1976 then from April 1 2016 it will be tax exempt.
But you say it was built in May 1976 then you'll have to wait until next year, so it would be built before January 1 1977, then it will be tax exempt from April 1 2017.

I think thats how it works, but I'm open for correction/criticism! :D

Cheers, Dave

Dave, you are correct.

Only the handful of 1975 cars currently qualify for a free tax disc
