All I'd say is look at the date...it's from September 2012, and the proposal was soon the subject of much backtracking.

Listening to the cobblers being talked by our esteemed Prime Minister it seems he doesn't think we're capable of running our own economy. He must think we're so completely useless in this country... or perhaps he considers the majority to be idiots and enough twits will believe the tosh he's spouting - I know many who do.

After I had my TR7 vinyl wrapped, my classic car insurance company refused to renew my policy as I had "modified" it by changing the colour.
After I explained that the new design did not make the car go any faster or handle the corners really badly (a higher risk to a claim being made, maybe) I was told that was not relevant, and that making a modification enables them to refuse to insure the vehicle or to raise the premium.
I then asked the girl on the phone if the following items were subject to this policy;
changing the colour of the hood/soft top.
A set of new tyres.
A new exhaust system.
A leather cover to my steering wheel.
All met with the reply, yes "because these mean you have modified the vehicle...."
I then terminated the ridiculous conversation and fired off an email to the classic car insurance company whereby I asked them if they thought the Triumph owners club and Triumph drivers club would be interested to hear of this policy.
I received an email at 09.30 the following morning, advising that they were prepared to review the situation, and offer me a new policy for £120 per annum, as opposed to the original £98 p.a.
At this point I agreed to pay the new price, mainly because I got really bored with the matter.
I have not named said classic car insurance company, as this was part of the deal....
Watch out, the the money grabbing b****ers, they will do absolutely anything to increase a premium.
All the best, Sean.

I think it does vary from one company to another. My insurance company did not increase my premium when I advised them I had a strut bar fitted and (of less significance) fog and spot lights. I did write to them though giving a detailed rationale why this should not impact on the premium. Best advice I can give is vote with your feet (which is why I don't use Halfords stores now) supercass

I do hope you folk vote to take back your sovereignty when you have the chance.
From this distance it appears to me that what you have now got is a long way from what you signed up for when you joined the EU. This applies to most of the countries involved, but it does appear to be more so with the UK.
It also appears that your EU bureaucrats, & your own bureaucrats are determined to grab more power over your lives than you ever granted them in the job description.
We do suffer from the same problem in Oz, but currently at least to a somewhat lesser extent. You should always remember who gave us the Magna Carta, & never give back what you have won at considerable cost.
You must never give your sovereignty to foreign interests, who have no interest in your wellbeing.
Good luck.

Hi,
I personally don't know of anyone who is going to vote to stay in but people do believe the rubbish put out by our very very biased media that society as we know it will collapse the day after the vote, that there will riots in the street and there wages will be cut by 90% and all German cars will suddenly vanish into thin air ! Never underestimate how stupid people are !
Cheers John

There are a few advantages to being a member of the EEC/EC/EU or whatever it's really called these days but it's difficult to find them. The one stand out thing is that we have 2 million British people living in European countries and in the main they are retired people. By contrast, the vast majority of migrants here come here to work. They are also prepared to work harder than a lot of British people.
Other than that I can't come up with anything else in favour right now. Those of us that do have a good understanding of the present EU know where everything is heading and why but we are in the minority. I've been telling people who can't be bothered to find anything out not to bother voting in the referendum as I don't want to waste my time trying to teach them when I know it will fall on deaf ears. Those that say they have not had enough information to come to a decision I tend to take a little time. I ask them if they believe in democracy. If they do then there is no alternative than to vote to leave. The EU is not a democracy and it's a shame few people understand this.
As an aside, fifteen years ago the EU had plans for a new map of Europe whereby every country was divided up into regions. Britain was divided into 12 regions and nowhere on the new map of Europe did the word 'England' appear. Most of London was part of the 'North German Plain' and Kent was something like the 'Pays De Paris'. Thankfully we haven't heard any more of that since the information leaked out but no doubt something similar will be tried again in the future. Personally I find the EU frightening - I'd have been better off never having researched it all those years ago. After all, ignorance is bliss.

Agreed, there's so many companies out there competing for classic insurance. I doubt that there's many "unmodified" wedges out there after 35 to 40 years. I declared all the mods for my insurance and the premium was the same for a TR7V8 whether it was 3.5L or 4.6L, fuel injected or carb's, tuned up or not, lowered or stiffened, original colour or lurid racing stripes. I'd shop around.

Defining "slightly modified" or rather a Eurocrat's definition of it that I find scary.
Not that this would influence my decision one way or the other, there are far more important issues at stake.
I am with John_C & co.on this one.
