Well he is selling a pair of used wing mirrors for a Ferrari for £1495 so I think he is pricing the badge on the assumption that is for a Ferrari Triumph!

He also has a NOS convertible door seal for the same low starting price! supercass

Ferrari Triumph! lol. He must have saw that Ferrari/TR7 ad figuring it was a Ferrari lesser model (like the Dino).

I think I recognise that bench from a certain TR7 specialist in the North West of England.

Is now a good time to say that I found an unused one for sale at Stoneleigh last year in a box of assorted trim bits and paid £2 for it! It's now gracing the nose of our recently restored blue DHC.

Previous owner had replaced it with the laurel wreath, which I do like, just something about the enamel badge.

Maybe it would be worth see how much it would cost to get a batch made?

Well done Rich, what a find, I purchased what I was told was the last badge in stock anywhere from S+S a few years back, I think your car looks fantastic Rich so the badge sets it off ncely.

Spike I have got a couple of damaged badges if you are interested not sure if they can be refurbished if you are interested send me an email address and I will send some photo's of them to you, I can't fathom out how to post on the site no matter how many times I try, but there again I am a total numpty on these things

There were ones that were remade several years ago - but the chrome pitted very quickly!
Unless one could find the original manufacturer I am not sure how this would work out.

I have a new one. I have had for about 20 years but at £95 asking for a second hand item I am afraid to fit it as removing them is the work of a few moments!!
A few months ago I purchased a new one from eBay for the seeming bargain price of £40. The seller, who may be a forum member described it as new and in good condition. It was accurately described . When it arrived there was little doubt in my mind that it was a new unused item but there were more defects than you would expect particularly in the chrome casting. I did wonder if it was a factory second or manufacturers reject item. Still worth the money I felt. From the little I know of how these items are manufactured I imagine the wastage / reject rate would be quite high so now that that original high spec items are no longer available I wonder if stocks of rejects / seconds have been found and are being sold. The seller said he had gone through a box full of them to find the best one which would also suggest this. This has now become an item that is purchased but not fitted due to the cost and the ease with which they can be removed. I won't be purchasing any more, I have my new one and a spare which is enough! Original NOS late door lights have gone the same way, although if you did fit a new set of these as per the originals they may well break in a few months!! supercass

I did ask him why it was priced so high. He (or she) said "used ones go for around £95 up £175" He also has a new one which he may list for £200.

Wonder how much it would cost to get a batch re-manufactured?

It is back on ebay for another week - but is greatly over priced.
There seemed to be some that were remade many years ago - when new the thickness of the peel away backing tape was the biggest giveaway - but for second hand ones that becomes impossible to check!

To the best of my knowledge I have never seen one sell on EBay for these prices. If they did it is likely you would have to padlock them to your car!! supercass

In respect of remanufacturing I guess the quantities involved would be a limiting factor. I understand replica badges of a similar but slightly smaller design and of quite passable quality for a well known car are available for about £6. with poor quality painted ones available for as little as £1. They probably sell thousands of them so tooling costs become relatively insignificant. Of course if our badges really were enamel they could be refurbished at a reasonable price. supercass

I'd want to get as close to original in design as possible, and as best quality as well. There are a few places on the web advertising manufacturing so I might drop them a line.

Think it will work out cheaper than £200 per badge as well
