When I bought my first TR7 in 1988 I was refused membership of the TR Club Holland because it wasn't a real Triumph TR

I remember some years ago TR Register club at a show asked an official of they would move my car from sitting next to there stand as they did not want it associated with there club.

This is why i have only been a member of the TR Drivers Club for the last 20 years.

Oh I think they thought it was generally a good car!! It was just hampered by a load of constraints ie: design constraints,industrial and economic constraits!! Other than that it would have been and still is a great sports car!!

Btw i've seen this one in southhampton on car and classic!!It's my ultimate 7!!It would fit in well with my current 7!!

Was that really so?!!That's terrible!! You think that they'd let any model into the club regardless whether it was good or not!!

What Stevie and Beans states is very true,although I have been a member of the Register as well as TR Drivers for many years the animosity to 7s has always been there, problem I think is so much model snobiness within the club by a lot of members that have never been in or driven a 7 or 8 model, although I think this is beginning to change within the younger membership.

Aye it has changed a lot - i was recently asked to put one of my cars on the TR Register Stand (Tatton Park 2019) and thought it'd be the only wedge ... in fact the wedges accounted for 50% of total cars on the Saturday and 55% on the Sunday ... times have indeed changed.

1nteresting isn't it. I spent a couple of years back in the day racing a 1962 Morgan 4, with the TR3A engine. also owned a Ferguson tractor for many years

After my experience racing a heavily disguised Fergy tractor engine I do feel slightly sorry for anyone who still has one in a sports car. in my opinion anyone with an early TR does not have anything do feel superior about.

When I joined my English car club in 2003 with a Spitfire to be restored, there wasn't one wedge in it. In 2005 I mentioned I was thinking of buying a TR7 the answer was "Oh, no, you don't want to do that". That summer, a fellow moved into town and joined with a black TR7 (resprayed). Looking for a year I bought my Spider in 2006. After detailing over the summer and winter to replace all rubber etc. and putting it on the road in summer of 2007 there were two. Now there are over a dozen wedges including a just bought low mileage all original (except rubber) FI TR8 owned by the club president. This Chapter of the club has over a hundred members with car ownership 30% Jag, 30% MG, 30% Triumph and 10% other.

One thing about Oz, the Triumph Sports Owners Association in each state welcomes every thing Triumph [except motorbikes[, including Heralds & Mayflowers.

There is another club that specialises in side curtain TRs, but 've never met any of them.

I’ve just been watching a few episodes of “James mays cars of the people” and it gave a real slating review of the Austin allegro, (I know this car has never had a great deal of fans)
Even it’s designer Harris Mann (and designer of our beloved tr7s!!) disowned it!! When may offered to give him a lift home, he just said “I’d rather walk!!” Charming!!
