I've recently purchased a set of alloy wheels for the TR8 but will use them on the TR7 until the 8 is ready. When opening the box, I noticed a very slight imperfection with one wheel. It was probably due to a drop in the factory since the paint was unmarked. Be not totaly satisfied, I asked for a replacement. The fellow I was dealing with offered 50% off, or a replacement. I went for option two. When I asked how to send the damaged one back, he told me to keep it as shipping would out weight the cost. Wow. I now have a complete set of 5 rims. These are 15"x6.5 and 40mm offset. I also purchased a set of adapters for $140 - EBay. The tires are local - Dunlop DZ1 - I think. 205/50. The archived posts are such a help. Thanks to all

those are sweet rims. Are the adapters hub-centric? Do they have a hub for the wheels to rest on?

I have not purchased them yet, but I have considered adapters from ebay (see below)

I asked the seller if I can get hub centered 4X3.75 to 4X100 addaptors and questioned the offset.

Here is the response I got back "<i>4 X 3 3/4 HUB TO 4 X 100 MM Your cost for all four will be 139.00 complete shipped and will come with 7/16 lug nuts to bolt the adapters down on to your cars hub for easy install.

I assume that when he said 4 X 3 3/4 HUB he meant hub centered.

I hope to get rims in the next several months, and my plan right now is to get those 20 mm adapters. That way I should be able to get 4X100 40mm offset rims (very common rims with lots of choices).

I'd love to get a set of those with a 4-bolt Ford pattern...then I could use the wheels I have for the Mustang on the TR7![:D]
For now, will stick with the ones I have for the Acura/Honda wheels.

The wheels are 15". The adapters are hub-centric (I assume). They are from the same outfitter as your response from JJ. I should be getting them this week. It is exciting to see the diningroom look like a parts depot.

Be sure to post a pic once they are on the car[8D]

If you ever change those wheels, I want dibs!!!!

I received the adapters today and they look great! Haven't held them to the hub as I took my little boy to his first swimming lesson. (There is a few things even better than cars [;)]) I'm waiting on the 5th (free) wheel and then I can go about trimming the studs on my hubs. Has anyone done this before? What would be the best way to go about it? I was thinking of marking them with tape or paint then using a cutting wheel on an angle grinder.
Yes I will proudly post pics when fitted.

Just be sure to put a nut on the stud before cutting it shorter, as the end threads are sure to be damaged, making starting the lug nuts difficult.

That is odd, I have the same adaptors/spacers (24mm thick) and I do not need to trim the studs. Did you request a thinner adaptor/spacer?

Not sure how think mine are,but I didn't have to trip the studs either. There were holes for the original studs to go through,and there is a hole that the hub sits on.

Yes I did request the thinner variety of adapter to get the offset within 5mm (otherwise is would've been 9mm). Now when I tried the adapters, the 7/16"x20 don't fit my lugs which seem to be the same lug as they supply on the adapter (10.9 is on the back of the stud). Do I try to get shorter studs to match the supplied lugs or the more obvious buy a set of 10.9? lugs and cut my studs? Someone must have had this same issue. Grndsm?

why not just replace with short studs, instead of cutting?

Are you sure these wheels are strong enough ? They look VERY fragile. The 10.9 marking on the studs will be the strength (ie indicates high tensile) of the stud material. The whole idea of using 'adapters' is abhorent to me as an Engineer, Far far better to get wheels that fit correctly to the hubs. Anything else is just asking for trouble.
