Engine mounts

Postby nick » 13 Jun 2014 23:14

I know that the early TR7s had mounts different from the later ones. I have one of each car. The other day I notice a squeaky noise in the FHC while the engine was running. I could stop it by putting hand pressure on the engine. Then I notice that compared the the DHC the engine was quite a bit looser laterally on its mount. So, can the early cars be converted to the later style mounts? Or should I stay with the older style mounts and replace them?

Also, with the 5 speed conversion I lost the rigid rod that goes from the gearbox to the engine and did not add the flexible gearbox to engine that goes with the newer cars. But the movement is lateral not fore/aft.
