Hi,

Like others on the forum, I replaced the rubber gearbox mount some time back and gained transmission noise drone when cruising around 70mph or above. The mount came from one of our specialists and was marked "made in India" on the packaging. It was rock hard ' granite like compared to the oily jelly thing it replaced.

The 'Anchor', Part # 2675 shows as this

and this

NAPA's website displays it as suitable for these Volvo's

In the UK the Volvo mount appears to be available as this

Has anyone in the UK tried the equivalent Volvo part? I'd like to make sure I order the right item.

Thanks,

Adam

Maybe I should just wrap an EP90 soaked rag around the mounting rubber.

Keeping it away from both exhaust pipes, of course [;)]

Hi Russ,

Did you get to fit the Volvo gearbox mount?

Cheers,

Adam

Ha! Funny thing, the supplier messed up and couldn't deliver so I took that as an omen and just re-used the good old one. Its a bit soft but nothing bad and its fine for a road car.
I had only replaced it because the engine was out and it seemed a good idea at the time. That was a mistake.

Wow, it’s been 4 years since I adapted the Volvo gearbox mount on my 7V8 and still going strong! No transmission judder in stop / start traffic and no softening of the rubber.

Glad to know it worked for you as well Howard…

Links for anyone wishing to pursue the Volvo gearbox mount conversion…

I have the Volvo 740 mounts on both my cars. They are still made to OE spec and inexpexpensive. They look very similar to our TR7/8 ones and almost a direct swap.
You just need to slot the crossmember holes slightly and enlarge the centre hole slightly by running a drill down it.
