To stripe or not to stripe, that is the question

My TR7-V6 FHC goes in for paint this week. Bright White with clear coat on top. Using the MK3 full body kit from Rimmers. - YES, I’ll send pictures.
I’m looking for opinions.
Let me see your stripes. Are you in favor of artwork on the side of your car? Do you like the look following the swag line or just straight across the body?
I see most don’t have any stripe, is that personal preference or just the way the come?
Send the pictures guys… I need pictures!

Not generally a fan of stripes, especially following the swage line (just a personal opinion), but the VE stripes look quite good, and the gold straight ones on the black special edition (can't remember the name), but both generally need a dark coloured car. A recent post had good looking blue stripes on a white DHC (Henks ex car?) but not sure how they would look on an FHC.

Stripes were found on the TR7s as a majority with the excception of canadian TR7 & 8s. Some cars had small pin striping and then wide stripes. Its all about what the dealer did if it is a stock look otherwise stripes can be a fashion no-no, but its all up to the owner and personal taste.

How about 2 broad red stripes straight up the middle of the car.[8D]

White is a really good colour for showing off the shape of the car - the tonal contrast on the sides probably won't need anything. If you do want stripes why not have a look at what was done back in the day:

I'd keep the cills dark as colour coding them alters the composition of the car and makes it look less directional (chunky rather than dagger like...) If you look at colour coded bumpers (or the black special editions) too it does alter the composition quite dramatically!

If my car was white, these are the only stripes that would be going on it [:D].....

I prefer no stripes myself. Back in the 80s, stripes were all the rage as were vinyl and landau roofs. I made extra money doing vinyl pinstripes and mudflaps on many a new car. To me the Wedge has enough going on with the somewhat contoversial bodylines as is. I'm also in the camp that thinks the lower body should stay flat black. Makes the car look longer instead of stubby & chubby. Then again everyone has thier own taste. But you did ask for opinions.
I just re-read the part about the body kit. I suppose that may change the appearance of the sills and my opinion on the color.

Gotta agree with most of what's said here. Stripe on swag line a no no. Love the Lanocha car but while stripes fit it to a tee not sure they'd fit a standard coupe even with body kit. The only colour coded bumper should be on Premium and Spider (black rubber like all cars). If you want a stripe do it like the Spider or Premium although on other colour cars they probably don't need it, the exception being that blue stripe on the white car that hit the forum a few days back, again with body kit I don't know...lots going on as stated. With body kits I'd be guessing you're pretty much stuck with all same colour or they would look like tack on's.

This is what I'm talking about...

...only Dave's car is white so the stripes would be red or blue etc.

I put the stripe on to distract attention away from the paint, still original on 80% of the car. Not sure why my picture doesn't show up anymore when I post.

By the way if you let your paint setup for a couple of months, you can then use a 3M tape stripe. If you don't like it latter you can always take it off. I laid stripes on cars for about 20 years, so it's no big deal to me. (where did my picture go?)

I appreciate all the input, and I value even more.
I really like the one on YouTube with the double stripe down the hood.
I welcome more pictures... I can't get enough! I guess I'm very visual and like to see examples.
With the white color, and the body kit, I think I might just leave it without any accent colors for now.
I think black leather seats with a bit of orange piping. Dark gray carpet, and a white headliner.
Thoughts?
