front bumper

have tackled an stripped the front bumper so i can clean an paint it up am thinking of taking balance weights off the side any thoughts [:)]

We took them off the 8 a few months back, & can detect no change to anything.

I left mine off as a test (no droop). No real difference but then it's hard to tell without side by side comparison. I'm not sure the differences of metal bumper between N/A and UK but I POR-15'd mine and waxoiled the inside as paint was not going to reach the nooks and crannies unless I dipped it in paint (which I couldn't). Going to do the same to rear bumper possibly this winter.

dont some grinnals have plastic bumpers? so would guess they wont make much difference, will be taking them off mine anyway....

the project at birth, watch it evolve...I hope...

I did hear that it all was needed for the safety and toughness of the car.

That may apply to the 'beam' behind the bumper skin but not to the weights in the ends that are part of the 'harmonic damper' designed to eliminate scuttle shake in the DHC.

I fitted a FHC bumper (USA spec) to mine. Also surgicaly removed, with an acetelene torch, some additional weight from the reinf beam. Much lighter and no droop whatsoever. If only it were as easy with my belly!![;)]
