What if you could wind back the clock, go into the dealer and order a new TR7, what colour and spec would you go for ?

I dont think I could order it the way Id want it...a 1981 TR8 FI, Deep red with black and red check interior. Or a TR8-Spider in Black [:p]

I'd still do it exactly like I did it in 1976: White, with air conditioning and a trunk-mounted luggage rack. But since I bought the car in North Carolina, I'd get the Southern Skies edition with 5-speed and special trim. And I might substitute something more modern than the Audiovox 8-track tape player!

I'd order exactly what I got. A FI Spider (A/C standard, high end Panasonic AM/FM cassette deck standard). Or a TR8 FI Triton Green and start looking for a Lucas ECU as a spare part.

Hmmm, a hard choice between these two. I be insisting to the dealer that I need not just a test drive, but an extended loan, say a week with each, before I could decide./

I'd wait for a 2 for 1 deal & get a red FHC TC for 'upgrading' & a white DHC EFI for cruising. I don't think A/C is that important in NZ but I'd go for leather trim, body kits & rust protection.

Think I'll stick to the current spec for my two 7's [:)]
