Rust is the questions.

If there is no rust, most other things can be fixed for not to many $$$$. If there is rust, you can easily spend many thousands getting rid of it.

Hey, Travis - Mickey in Clarksville here.

As mentioned, rust is your enemy. Check the floor behind the seats (carpet should lift up easily). If you see rust there, run! The mounting point for the rear link of the suspension is in that area, and it's a rust magnet.

Another spot to check is under the master cylinders, along the firewall. Very expensive to repair if eaten up there.

If the car runs with no strange noises, has good compression, fluids up to speed, etc., etc., you're way ahead of the game. Head gaskets have been issues, but OK if looked after.

Let us know what you find and decide.

Hey Travis, just my two cents worth, these cars are drivers cars and a good car to get if you like to do your own work. If you're not mechanically inclined an/or not willing to learn how to fix them you have the problem of finding someone who knows how to fix them plus it could be quite costly to get them up to snuff. If you do your own work the parts themselves are not expensive and a car that has been gone over to bring 30 year components to said state they are really reliable cars. Not to mention fun to drive (you'll find yourself making up excuses to run into town, if you're in the country, or to take a run to the country if you live in towm.) Plus as you drive by you'll see people wondering just what the heck it is you're driving.
